Starting Date: Jul 1, 2026 Job Description POSITION TITLE: Locksmith REPORTS TO: Director of Maintenance POSITION SUMMARY: Performs locksmith duties including maintenance and repair of locks, making of keys for district equipment, and maintaining lockers and door hardware in a secure condition in all buildings of the district. Functions of the Job Essential Functions Help performs daily review and prioritizing of work orders, routine inventory/supply actions and job assignments. Performs locksmith duties, including maintenance and repair of locks, making of keys for district equipment and maintaining student lockers and door hardware. Maintains and operates computerized four‑level master key control system that enables continual re‑keying of locks for security purposes. Maintains electric and manual door closers. Maintains entry doors, magnetic entries, and related devices. Help maintain, repair, and install access control devices/systems as well as door intercom devices/systems. Help maintain inventory of keys, locks, and related equipment; place re‑orders as required. Performs skilled locksmith tasks in accordance with standard practices of the trade. Performs all locksmith and related duties in a conscientious safe manner. May assist with snow removal of district parking lots. Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor(s). Marginal Functions Perform low voltage as well as relay repair and installation. Perform tasks through multi‑site network structures. Physical/Visual Activities or Demands Walking, sitting, climbing, stooping or crouching, kneeling, crawling, reaching, pushing, grasping, talking, hearing. Normal attention with clarity of vision at 20 inches or less as well as 20 feet or more, ability to adjust eye to bring object into sharp focus. Light to moderate physical demand with regular lifting of very light to light (1 to 25 lbs.) items and occasional lifting of average and heavy (25 lbs. to 60 lbs. or more) items by hand. Environmental/Atmospheric Conditions Subject to both inside and outside working conditions with some exposure to a variety of physical hazards such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, and some exposure to adverse atmospheric conditions. Position Qualification Requirements Education: Knowledge of locksmith practices and use of basic tools and equipment of the trade, requiring basic skills knowledge. Equivalent to graduation from a general or technical high school. Experience: Minimum of three years up to and including five years of experience as a journeyman in the locksmith trade, or any equivalent combination of experience and training. Experience with RS2/Accessit! and Acre security platform, preferred. Experience with Zenitel Alphacom, preferred. Low voltage and relay logic experience, preferred. Skills and Abilities: Application of common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagrammatic form; problem solving in standardized situations; basic arithmetic; basic reading, writing, and speaking; intermediate computer skills and understanding of network structures. Machines, Tools, Equipment and Work Aids: Computer and related software, and a variety of electric powered and locksmith hand tools. License(s)/Certification(s) Required: Licensed and Bonded Locksmith.
