Methodist Health System is seeking a dedicated Police Officer to join our Safety, Security & Law Enforcement department within our Healthcare & Medical Services environment. In this vital role, you will support a mission-driven organization that provides comprehensive healthcare services through hospitals and clinics across Texas, working to improve and save lives with compassion and high-quality care. As a Police Officer assigned to a hospital and clinical setting, you will be responsible for maintaining a safe, secure, and orderly environment for patients, visitors, physicians, and staff across Methodist Health System facilities. You will conduct high-visibility patrols of hospital buildings, emergency departments, parking areas, and campus grounds, responding promptly to calls for service, disturbances, alarms, and requests for assistance. Using sound judgment and de-escalation techniques, you will manage volatile situations, intervene in disruptive behavior, assist clinical teams during high-stress incidents, and help protect vulnerable patients and their families. You will investigate crimes and security incidents that occur on or around facility property, including taking statements, collecting basic evidence, preparing clear and accurate incident and arrest reports, and coordinating with local law enforcement agencies as needed. The role includes enforcing applicable laws, regulations, and hospital policies; controlling access to secure or restricted areas such as emergency departments, behavioral health units, and pharmacy spaces; and monitoring surveillance systems and security technologies to identify and address potential threats. You will support Emergency Department and hospital staff during critical events such as trauma activations, behavioral health crises, missing patient or infant abduction alerts, and disaster responses, contributing to a safe and controlled environment that allows caregivers to focus on delivering high-quality clinical care. In addition, you will provide escorts for staff and visitors when needed, perform safety checks of facilities and equipment, and participate in safety rounds to identify environmental or security hazards. Methodist Health System’s culture emphasizes integrity, compassion, accountability, and collaboration, and you will be expected to demonstrate professionalism, strong communication skills, and respect for individuals of diverse backgrounds in every interaction. You will work closely with nurses, physicians, and support teams, particularly in high-acuity areas such as the Emergency Department, to align security practices with patient-centered care and regulatory requirements. The position typically requires prior law enforcement, military police, or healthcare security experience, along with current Texas peace officer licensing or hospital police commission eligibility, strong report-writing ability, proficiency with radios and security systems, and a commitment to ongoing training. Methodist Health System offers competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package, which may include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and retirement savings plans such as a 401(k). This is a full-time role with rotating shifts, weekends, nights, and holidays required to ensure continuous protection of our patients and staff across Methodist Health System facilities in Texas.
