Job Overview A law firm seeks an Estate Planning Attorney in Chicago, IL. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in estate planning and probate administration, working directly with high-net-worth clients and family offices. This role involves immediate responsibility for client relationships, drafting, and matter management, supported by experienced partners and staff. Duties Counsel clients on estate, gift, and generation-skipping transfer planning. Draft wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and related instruments. Advise on asset titling and coordinated planning across various accounts. Manage probate and trust administrations, including court filings and asset management. Advise fiduciaries on duties and risk management. Support business-succession planning in collaboration with other teams. Coordinate with clients' external advisors on tax compliance. Conduct legal research and maintain organized matter files. Requirements Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school. Licensed to practice law in Illinois or eligible for timely admission. Minimum of 5 years of focused trusts-and-estates experience. Strong drafting skills and attention to detail. Working knowledge of federal transfer-tax principles and Illinois probate practice. Excellent organization, judgment, and client-service skills. Education Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school. Certifications Licensed to practice law in Illinois. Skills Strong drafting and communication skills. Ability to manage matters independently and collaboratively. Familiarity with practice-management systems and document-automation tools.
